Accountable for What You Deny Yourself

“When you die, God and the angels will hold you accountable for all the pleasures you were allowed in life that you denied yourself.” — Anonymous

Interesting idea, huh?

We are so used to concentrating on the responsibilities and obligations we have, and typically, a responsibility or obligation to oneself to indulge in available pleasures does not make the list.

We go through life with blinders on, conditioning ourselves to believe the world and our lives in it are this way, or that, without much wiggle room, without much hope of deviation, as if the roles we play totally define us. Yet, even within those roles are pleasures we ignore.

Part of being 100% responsible for your life is being aware of and allowing yourself the pleasures life has to offer. We are responsible for our own happiness or lack thereof.

If you died today, what pleasures in life that you denied yourself could you be held accountable for?
