Gratitude Story #22: Shop With a Cop

This time of year, so many get caught up in the stress of the season and forget to reflect on how fortunate they really are.
We stress over who we need to buy what for and where we need to be to make everyone in the family happy. We can get so caught up in our own lives that we forget that there are those out there who are extremely grateful for seemingly the smallest things.
Those times in life when one is able to make another’s life better are the instances that best reflect the spirit of the season. One program which instills this feeling of philanthropy and produce more for the greater good is the Fraternal Order of Police Shop with a Cop program which provides presents for kids who otherwise might not receive much of a Christmas.
Young participants in this year’s program gathered Wednesday evening at the Maysville Police Station to be teamed up with local law enforcement personnel and traveled by bus with police escort to Brown’s Restaurant in Aberdeen where owner Bobby Meadows and Margie Bowie of Bowie Tire Company sponsored a dinner for all.
Meadows, who has been sponsoring the dinner for the past 14 years reflected on how his participation started.
