Overwhelmingly, we all crave control. Control gives us the illusion of security, quells our fears about what’s around the corner and gives us a sense of purpose. But, control is a myth. We actually have “control” over very little in our lives in the grand scheme of things. And that, my friends, is a fairly big pill to swallow. The good news is you can take charge of your life even if you’re not in control of everything that affects it. You can create a sense of security that comes from knowing yourself well, minimize the fears about what’s going to happen next by charting your own course, and live with a sense of purpose about why you are here and where your journey is taking you.
Maybe you’re someone (like I used to be) who wakes up each morning wondering, “Whose life is this anyway? And how did I get stuck living it?” Maybe you haven’t the first clue where to start - it all seems such a mess, so out of control, so far from what you envisioned for yourself - your initial reaction is to throw up your hands and accept this as your fate, because changing it feels too complicated and impossible. Or, maybe most of your life is humming along just fine - as long as you don’t acknowledge that huge elephant standing on the kitchen table. Maybe there’s one area, one relationship, one situation that is just out of control, and if it weren’t for that, your life would be just great.
Either way, there are steps you can take to take charge of your life - every aspect of it - and find yourself soon bouncing out of bed each morning excited to see what the day brings instead of dreading what’s going to happen next.
Am I promising a “quick fix”? No way - we all know better than that. But I can promise you this: a few of these steps bring immediate relief if you embrace them. The rest involve new awarenesses, new perspectives and new ways of living your life that support you in taking charge and staying in charge no matter what is happening around you.
These steps are what the “Who’s Driving YOUR Bus?” e-course is all about. Interested? Learn more here.
