Why Your Bliss and Not Something Else?

Yesterday, I quoted Joseph Campbell talking about what happens when you follow your bliss. Today let’s explore the why. Why follow your bliss (passions)?

Survey after survey of successful people reveal one thing they all have in common: They LOVE what they did or what they are doing. Every single one of them. Without exception. They love it…so much that it feels like play, no matter how many hours they put into it. I’m not saying their lives were easy, or that they didn’t have challenges - they certainly did. But they LOVE(D) what they were/are doing.

When you love something THAT much, when you are THAT passionate about it, it doesn’t feel like work. When you are completely absorbed in something you love that much, time flies and your energy reserves can actually expand instead of deplete. And that is a key point. You’ll need that energy, because even when you are doing something you love, you’ll have challenges, disappointments, frustrations and setbacks. Being passionate about what you are doing doesn’t mean you bypass all those things. Being passionate gives you the energy, motivation and inspiration to keep moving forward through the challenges, disappointments, frustrations and setbacks when without it, you’d likely give up.

When you’re setting out to create the life you REALLY want to live, what else would you fill it with but the things you are passionate about?
